Katherine Gulla

Katherine Gulla began exploring video as an art student. Her interest grew from making video art to producing documentaries. Katherine made documentaries while working as a freelance writer/producer in educational media, television and corporate video. These independent productions were broadcast on WGBH and other Public Television stations. Her subjects were Ken Goldstrom, a ceramic artist; a collaboration between director Peter Sellars and artist Elaine Spatz Rabinowitz at Bostonís Institute of Contemporary Art; The Footlight Club, the oldest continuous community theater in the U.S.; and immigrants and their Italian counterparts in her paternal grandparentís village, Palermiti.

While she was working as a freelance producer, Katherine started to experiment with combining video and her original field of study, painting. Now, a full-time artist, her mediums are painting and photographic transparencies. Gallery Kayafas in Boston, MA represents her work. She is having solo shows at the gallery and at The Danforth Museum in 2007.
