Key procedures for disaster response

Audio and videotape restoration expert, Peter Brothers, lists important procedures that need to be in place for an effective and timely response to a disaster like a flood or a fire.
1- The person running the disaster response must also have the authority to make decisions.
2- There must be a backup person if person in charge cannot be contacted.
3- A limited amount of funds needs to be available to make an initial response -- to fit the leak in a pipe or the roof for example.
4- You need to identify the people who are going to respond -- the fire department, the plumper, the film specialist. These names need to be posted.
