PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

PRODUCER / DIRECTOR / WRITER 1980 - present

Independent producer/writer/director of documentary media, including the Grammy-nominated music documentaries "Welcome to the Club: The Women of Rockabilly” and “The Blinking Madonna and Other Miracles.” (both through ITVS).

Recently completed “The Winding Stream,” the Carters, the Cashes and the Course of Country Music.

A long association with Oregon Public Broadcasting yielding numerous Emmy-nominated films.  Full filmography available on request.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER 1990 - 1994

Researched and associate produced PBS films for The Documentary Guild/ WGBH, Boston.   Projects included "The Health Care Gamble" for Frontline, "In the Path of a Killer Volcano" and "Can the Elephant Be Saved?" For NOVA, "Dating in the Age of AIDS."  For The Health Quarterly, "Apollo 13: To the Edge and Back," and "The Rage for Democracy."

MEDIA INSTRUCTOR 1984 - present

Script-writing and media instructor at the following institutions: Washington State University; Lewis & Clark College; Bunker Hill Community College; New England School of Photography; Boston Film/Video Foundation; Northwest Writing Institute; Northwest Film Center; and the Olympia Film Society.

Courses include: Exploring the Personal Film, Interviewing Skills for Documentaries; Documentary Research and Writing; Corporate Scriptwriting; Media with Slides I and II; Scriptwriting for Television and Film.

SCRIPTWRITER/PRODUCTION MANAGER 1978 - 1980

Writer and manager of multi-image programs for educational and corporate use at Atkins &
Reilly, Audiovisual Communications, Boston. Included treatment and script writing, client liaison work and budget supervision.
