Jim Brown

James Bradford Brown (born June 7 1950, New York City) is an American documentary filmmaker, best known for his cultural and music-focused works. He studied film at the Tisch School of the Arts (New York University) and currently serves as an Associate Professor at the university’s Kanbar Institute of Film & Television. Brown heads his production companies — Jim Brown Productions, LLC and Ginger Group Productions, Inc. — which specialise in cultural and social documentaries and concert films. Wikipedia+1

Over his career, Brown has directed and produced a number of feature and television documentaries, many on folk music and American cultural history, and has won four Emmy Awards — most recently for his film Pete Seeger: The Power of Song. His work includes titles such as We Shall Overcome, 50 Years with Peter, Paul and Mary, Free to Rock, and a four-part PBS series, American Roots Music.
