Claire Gillett

Claire Gillett is a folklorist, filmmaker, and cultural-heritage professional based in New York City. She earned an M.A. in Folklore from Indiana University Bloomington in 2023. Her graduate film, Weaving Indiana, documents the lives and work of traditional Indiana rug weavers Dee Nierman and Margaret Luckey Snyder.

Gillett is Head of Operations and Business Development at Studio Nyandak, an architectural and engineering firm specializing in historic preservation and culturally sensitive design. She also directed Zanskar: Architecture at the Edge of the World, which documents Studio Nyandak’s efforts to study, preserve, restore, and reinforce centuries-old Buddhist monasteries and nunneries in the Himalayan region of northern India.
