Maureen Gosling

MAUREEN GOSLING has been a documentary filmmaker for more than fifty years, working variously as a director, producer, editor, sound recordist and distributor. Gosling is best known for her 20-year collaboration with the late Les Blank on over twenty films, as co-filmmaker, editor, sound recordist, most notably on the classic BURDEN OF DREAMS (British Academy Award for Best Documentary 1982). DRY WOOD AND HOT PEPPER were the first films Gosling worked on with Blank in 1972. She has gone on to produce, direct and edit with Chris Simon the feature, THIS AIN’T NO MOUSE MUSIC! (SXSW), on the life and legacy of American roots music record producer, Chris Strachwitz. She also directed, produced and edited BLOSSOMS OF FIRE, a feature-length tribute to the Isthmus Zapotecs of southern Oaxaca, Mexico. She is currently directing a film, THE NINE LIVES OF BARBARA DANE, on legendary jazz, blues and folk singer/activist, Barbara Dane.
