Chris Potter |
Chris Potter is a filmmaker, photographer, writer, designer, and media producer whose career spans more than three decades. He studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Rice University Media Center and served for more than twenty-five years as president of Southern Media Design & Production in Chapel Hill. He also taught video production at Duke University’s Center for Documentary Studies.
Potter co-directed We Shall Not Be Moved (2007) with Charles D. Thompson Jr. He also edited the film and shared its cinematography. Produced with the Concerned Citizens of Tillery, the documentary recounts the history of an African American New Deal resettlement community in Tillery, North Carolina, and its continuing struggles for land, environmental justice, and economic survival. The film screened at the Cucalorus and Langston Hughes film festivals and received the Best Documentary award at the Delta Film Festival. Potter later moved to Stockholm, Sweden.
