Tom Rankin |
Tom Rankin is based in North Carolina, where he is Professor of the Practice of Art and Documentary Studies at Duke University in Durham. Previously director of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke, he currently serves as director of Duke’s Master of Fine Arts program in Experimental and Documentary Arts. Rankin received his BA in history from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, an MA in folklore from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MFA in photography from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He has produced four monographs, including Sacred Space: Photographs from the Mississippi Delta (1993), which received the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Award for Photography. Rankin’s work is included in the collections of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, Louisiana; the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. Tom serves as an advisor to Folkstreams.
