Filmmakers

Taki Telonidis is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, editor, and public-radio producer. As media producer for the Western Folklife Center, he worked with folklorist Hal Cannon to document the culture, music, working lives, and traditions of the American West. Together they produced and directed Why the Cowboy Sings, which was broadcast nationally on PBS and received a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award. Telonidis also recorded portions of the film and helped edit it.

Telonidis and Cannon subsequently produced nearly one hundred radio features for programs including NPR’s Weekend Edition and Marketplace. Telonidis later directed Healing the Warrior’s Heart, a public-television documentary examining how Native American ceremonies and community traditions help veterans cope with the emotional and spiritual effects of war.

He went on to become a senior editor and producer for nationally distributed public-radio programs, including the Peabody Award-winning State of the Re:Union and the investigative program and podcast Reveal. He currently serves as a deputy executive producer of Reveal.
