John Winninger

John R. Winninger is a longtime television producer, director, and cinematographer associated with Indiana University. A 1968 graduate of IU’s Radio and Television program, he spent his career with Indiana University Television and Radio-Television Services, producing and directing educational programs, documentaries, teleconferences, and live broadcasts, including operas and ballets. He also taught television production as an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University and worked independently as a camera operator, producer, and director. Winninger directed and co-produced the award-winning 1981 documentary Joy Unspeakable, an ethnographic study of Oneness Pentecostal worship in southern Indiana, made in collaboration with folklorists Elaine Lawless and Elizabeth Peterson.
