Ken Camp - Railbirding Guide (1986)

About the Film

This documentary was part of a film on five short subjects about traditional activities in the New Jersey Pinelands National Preserve: railbirding in the meadows, cranberry growing in the bogs, foxhunting in the piney woods, garvey (wooden boats used in clamming) building on the bay, and cedar harvesting in the swamps. The films were part of a major exhibition at the New Jersey State Museum titled “New Jersey Pinelands: Tradition and Environment” based on fieldwork conducted by the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress. This documentary originally was distributed by New Jersey Network and is no longer available.
