About the Film

OK Mr Ray is a short documentary film directed by Grammy Award-winning documentarian and folklorist Bill Ferris. 

The film centers on the colorful life of Ray Lum, a famous Mississippi mule trader, auctioneer, and legendary storyteller. Using never-before-seen 16mm footage from the early 1970s paired with new animations, the project serves as a look back at Southern history, friendship, and the art of the tall tale.
