About the Film

Elizabeth James-Perry's artwork is intimately tied to her Aquinnah Wampanoag tribal heritage. Her wampum belts are made using indigenous materials -- locally harvested, handspun milkweed and beads hand sculpted from quahog shells.

Elizabeth James Perry is a gifted native artist who combines careful preparation of natural indigenous materials, exquisite hand skills, family knowledge and beauty of form to create work that is bringing new life into Eastern Woodlands traditional arts.
