Samuel Yellin's Legacy (1993)

About the Film

Samuel Yellin’s Legacy: The Story of a Metalworking Shop is a 57-minute documentary tracing the 80-year history of America’s premier ornamental metalworking shop. Founded by master blacksmith Samuel Yellin, the shop created iconic ironwork for major buildings in the early 20th century. Today, Yellin’s descendants and dedicated craftsmen carry on the tradition amid declining demand for hand-forged metalwork.

Through interviews, archival footage, and scenes of blacksmiths at work, the film explores the artistry, history, and cultural importance of this rare craft—offering a glimpse into a vanishing world of fine craftsmanship and design.
